Richard
led a team of scientists producing tags and equipment for managing fish and
other animal resources. Richard was granted several patents in this
field.
Micromark:
Co- Owner and Vice-President of Research
Richard
and his colleagues developed and produced a new laser micro tag for marking
and enumerating biological species (primarily fish). Northwest Marine
Technology bought Micromark and its more advanced technology after NMT
launched an unsuccessful intellectual property challenge, a not uncommon
chain of events in a business climate in which intellectual-property suits
are used as a way to suppress competition. The resolution was a win for
all concerned.

by motivated students themselves to teach, Richard was impressed by his
students eagerness to learn and gratified by their successes on the AP
exam. Many of his students went on to college majoring in science
related disciplines.

led teams of scientists and engineers developing Mass Spectrometers for
analyzing materials and age dating samples returned from the moon.
Recipient of the Industrial Research 100 Award for developing the first
Quadrupole Mass Analyzer for Solids.

Leading teams of
scientists and engineers, Richard was responsible for designing and building
electron beam lithography machines for fabricating sub-micron integrated
circuits. Richard was also responsible for formulating multi-company
research programs, business agreements and directing multi-million-dollar
government contracts.
